And I Will Always Love You
Performance, 2026
Choreography Andrea Ariel
Music composition Aida Shirazi
And I Will Always Love You is a live performance about creativity, love, and letting go. Created in conjunction with the installation Dress Rehearsal, the performance brings one of Lanina’s flower-headed characters to life, allowing her to physically enter and interact with the world of the exhibition.
Through movement, costume, sound, and interactions with the surrounding artworks, the performance explores how we carry our childhood selves with us—their dreams, fears, vulnerabilities, and capacity for imagination. It considers creativity as a way of returning to those earlier parts of ourselves while also confronting the necessity of change and letting go.
And I Will Always Love You was performed at grayDUCK Gallery in Austin, Texas, on September 13, 2026, as part of Lanina’s solo exhibition Dress Rehearsal.
