Ofrenda

Ofrenda is a large-scale painted animation created for WaterWork at the Seaholm Intake Facility in Austin, Texas. The animation brings together faces, flowers, eyes, and shifting landscapes in a continuously transforming sequence. Drawing on the tradition of the ofrenda as a space for remembering and honoring the dead, the work reflects on cycles of life, death, and renewal, and on the connection between humans and the natural world.

On September 26-27, 2025, the iconic façade of the historic Seaholm Intake Facility transformed into a vibrant canvas of art, light, and motion. WaterWork is a unique, immersive art experience co-created by The Trail Conservancy and Design Austin, that celebrates the dynamic relationship between Austin’s urban landscape and its cherished natural environment.

Special thanks: WaterWork production team and to the sponsors: Pentagram, Rivian and many others.
