Offering

Humpty Dumpty is about examining traditional stories and reinterpreting them. It is also about merging visual art, movement and music.

The cute plump girl version of Humpty Dumpty is intended to bring joy, amusement, and a sense of wonder. It also challenges the way we perceive gender and body image.

Offering

Artist / Animation: Yuliya Lanina
Music / Sound: Joe Williams
Presented by: The Trail Conservancy and Design Workshop

Offering is a large-scale painted animation created for WaterWork at the Seaholm Intake Facility in Austin, Texas. See the iconic façade of this historic building transform into a vibrant canvas of art, light, and motion, reflected in the waters of Lady Bird Lake.

Blending surreal and whimsical imagery—such as animals in fantastical forms, shifting faces, and blooming flowers—the piece reflects on cycles of life, death, and rebirth. It speaks to the inseparable connection between humans and nature, and to the dual experience of watching and being watched.

Rooted in mythology and personal history, Offering continues Yuliya Lanina’s practice of merging painting and animation into immersive environments. The projection invites viewers into a world that is at once magical and unsettling, where beauty and darkness coexist, and where endings carry the possibility of transformation and renewal.

WaterWork is a unique immersive art experience co-created by The Trail Conservancy and Design Workshop, celebrating the dynamic relationship between Austin’s urban landscape and its cherished natural environment.
