Dress Rehearsal
2026

Dress Rehearsal is a multimedia installation exploring childhood dreams, creativity, love, and letting go. The exhibition brings together paintings, sculptural figures, animation, sound, and mechanical elements to create a world inhabited by flower-headed figures, watchful trees, and hybrid creatures.

At the center of the installation is the idea of carrying our childhood selves into adulthood—the desires, fears, wounds, and imaginative worlds that continue to live within us. Figures and landscapes become both witnesses and participants, suggesting a space between memory and the present, vulnerability and transformation.

And I Will Always Love You

Created as part of Dress Rehearsal, And I Will Always Love You is a live performance in which Lanina becomes one of the flower-headed characters from the installation and enters the world of the exhibition. Through movement, sound, costume, and interaction with the surrounding artworks, the performance explores creativity as a way of returning to parts of ourselves that have been left behind, while asking what it means to love deeply and still let go.

Created in collaboration with choreographer Andrea Ariel and composer Aida Shirazi.

Dress Rehearsal was presented at grayDUCK Gallery, Austin, Texas, August 29–September 26, 2026. And I Will Always Love You was performed September 13, 2026.
